Safer (Home Security Tip)

(CA)

I purchased an automatic garage door locking system.

One day I was searching for garage doors on the internet and came across the garage door lock.

I looked at their site and saw how easy it is for a thief to break into a garage door using a hanger and a piece of wood. I could not believe my eyes!

I immediately purchased this item on their web site. It is a do it yourself product. I had the handyman install it.

I love it because I do not have to lock the door leading from the house into the garage anymore.
Great idea!

Hi Bryan,

Thank you for the heads up to the elocksys.com video. The device looks interesting and I had not seen it before.

However, where I say “As a new code is generated with each use, there are no switches to set – and it is virtually impossible for thieves to “grab” your code. _This means that automatic garage door openers can be used without garage door security concerns” It is in relation to third generation openers (that employ rolling code technology.)

I could be wrong, but I think the preceding paragraphs make this clear. It should not be taken to imply that using a third generation automatic garage door opener means that a thief cannot break into your garage. It means that he should have a hard time ‘grabbing’ the code.

Please, do keep locking that connecting door

by: Martin (Editor)

Hello,

Thank you very much indeed for submitting your home security tip.

Garage door security is vitally important and I’m glad that you have found something that suits your needs. But . . .

. . .please, do keep locking that connecting door into your house. No matter how good your automatic garage door locking system is there is always a chance that it can be defeated. If it is, and your connecting door is locked that is one more barrier keeping the criminal out of your home. It will take him more time to get through your inner door, and burglars don’t like taking time.

Please think about that.

Garage Door Security

by: Bryan

Hello, my name is Bryan and I was on you tube and found this video on “garage door break in” it takes six seconds. It led me to elocksys.com website with the same video. So I think you need to change your wording in reference to an automatic garage door opener as a security device as it is stated in your article as follows. As a new code is generated with each use, there are no switches to set – and it is virtually impossible for thieves to “grab” your code. _This means that automatic garage door openers can be used without garage door security concerns_. Please let me know if you agree,Sincerely, Bryan.
